It’s time to clear the mist surrounding your PCS! This guide will assist in making your transition to Minot as smooth as possible. We look forward to meeting you!
Pre-Arrival
- Assignment notification to Minot AFB received
- Sponsor assigned
- If Sponsor has not connected with you within 30 days of receiving your assignment notification, reach out to the Minot AFB M&FRC at 701-723-3950
- Create a custom checklist with Plan My Move
- Review installation information on Military One Source
- EFMP screening
- Book lodging at our Sakakawea Inn
- Request childcare by visiting Military Child Care
- Family Child Care offers PCS care
- Must contact the Military and Family Readiness Center for a certificate. M&FRC can be reached at 701.723.3950. This certificate is then emailed to our office and we schedule your care!

- This is a pre-arrival orientation hosted by the M&FRC and an opportunity to ask any questions about Minot – we will “Bust the Myths”!
Arrival
- In-process into your new unit/squadron
- Your CSS will schedule your appointment at the Welcome Center for the next business day or available spot. Your CSS will also schedule you to attend Right Start, held the 4th Wednesday of each month.
- Attend Welcome Center appointment
- At the Welcome Center you will file your travel voucher and meet with representatives from Finance, TMO, Medical, Housing and MPF.
- Visit the Loan Closet to borrow household items until yours arrive
- Attend Right Start as scheduled.
- Spouses are welcome to attend with you. Child care is available via the FCC program at no cost on a space available basis. Contact the M&FRC at 701.723.3950 for more information.
- NOTE: The M&FRC relies on members to provide contact info for their spouses during Right Start registration. The information will be used to inform spouses of the upcoming Spouses Welcome event (see details below) and will also be passed on to the appointed Key Support Liaison for their unit so they can be kept informed of squadron and base information and events.
- Attend quarterly Spouses Welcome On the Road event
- This event provides an opportunity for spouses new to the base to attend an info fair with a variety of base agencies, meet with Wing Leadership and their Spouses, get briefings from Tricare and the Minot Chamber of Commerce and then “hit the road” to have lunch at the DFAC and tour the Fitness Center, Arts & Crafts, Outdoor Recreation and the Thrift Shop/Airman’s Attic. Childcare for this event is available via the FCC program at no cost on a space available basis.
