Winter Reading Program

The Winter Reading Program starts on 1 December 2024 and ends on 1 March 2025. It is for all ages! There are separate programs for adults, teens, and kids.

Important registration information:

  • If you are registering yourself AND one or more family members, register yourself FIRST!
  • If you are ACTIVE DUTY, please select your squadron under “which organization or partner are you with.
  • The system will ask you for an ACCOUNT CREATOR’S information first. If you are registering your entire family, this is the person who will do the logging online. If you are registering yourself, this is you. If the ACCOUNT CREATOR is also reading, sign up the ACCOUNT CREATOR FIRST and then any other readers. You can have any number of account creators per family, but all account creators must be 13 or older.

If you participated in our 2024 Summer Reading Program or Banned and Challenged Book Program, please sign into the account you used then. If you need help, contact the library.

Program Eligibility and How to Register

Eligibility

If you are eligible to use the library, you can participate in the Winter Reading Program. You could be active duty military, a retiree, national guard, reserve, civilian employee, contractor, or a dependent of the above. To be an “Account Creator” you must be 13 or older.

Registering

You can register for the program using the links above or at the library where you can register yourself using library computers, or you can ask the library staff to register you. If you don’t have an e-mail address or don’t have a phone number, you must ask the staff to register you. You will receive a program card with the URL to this page and space to write down your user name and password, and program guide when you register. If you register online, be sure to pick up these items when you next visit the library.

If you are Active Duty, be sure to select your squadron under “partner” while registering so that your squadron gets credit for your reading next summer.

Kids and Teens can register for Winter Challenges at the same time. Winter Challenges run Dec 28 through March 22 and consist of weekly STEAM challenges and LEGO Challenges. The STEAM Challenges consist of a take home kit with instructions and an optional video posted on Facebook and Youtube every Saturday. Get a reading buck for every 3 challenges that you complete. The LEGO Challenges consist of lists of challenges that can be completed at the Library or at home. Earn 1 reading buck for every 5 completed challenges.

Winter Reading Program Rules

Register for the version of the program that fits your age (Kids=0-12, Teens=13-17, Adults=18 and up).

Log the time you spent reading (and/or being read to) between 1 Dec and 1 March. Win reading bucks for reaching reading and book review goals.

Win a reading buck for every 5 hours you spend reading up to 30 hours. Continue reading and logging earn occasional bonus reading bucks and to improve your chances of winning a grand prize.

Win more reading bucks by reviewing 5, 10, and 15, books that you read this winter! Kids can submit pictures of book inspired art projects as a review.

Logging Your Reading

You can log your reading yourself using the online system at the link above, or you can also have the library staff log your reading for you. The system will let you know when you have logged enough books to win a prize. You can then come to pick up as many prizes as you have earned. You have to log your books before 1 March 2025, but the prizes will be available for pick-up until 15 March 2025.

Prizes!

You can get prizes by spending your reading bucks at our prize store.

You can spend your reading bucks as soon as you earn them or save them up to buy more expensive prizes. Prizes will be available until supplies last, and our prize store will be open whenever the library is open between Dec 1 and March 15th.

The more you read and log, the greater your chance of winning a grand prize gift card.

One grand prize will be set aside for the TOP READER in each age group.

The grand prize drawing will be held in early March, and winners will be notified by phone and/or e-mail.
