There's Black Gold in North Dakota and the oil boom is creating critical shortages of lodging rooms off base. We count on off-base hotels to meet demand, and those accommodations are increasingly scarce. These shortages have affected PCS and TDY personnel. We anticipate on-base TLF accommodations could book up 60-90 days in advance. PCSing personnel and sponsors should make reservations as soon as the need is known. Be sure to contact the Sakakawea Inn for contract quarters or non-availability documents. Avoid reservation requests during the ND State Fair (20-28 July 2012) and the Norsk Hostfest (25-29 Sep 2012) as there will be no lodging available in the Minot area.
